Getting Started Sharing Your Login Information Securely

I’m so looking forward to diving into your project! To get started on your WordPress
site, I’ll need administrative access to the dashboard. While it might feel natural to
simply fire off a quick email with your password, taking a moment to use a secure
method protects your data and your peace of mind.

Here are two of the best, free ways to provide me with access to your WordPress website without compromising your login details.

1. Create a New User Account (Recommended)

The cleanest way to provide access is to create a unique account for me. This allows you to track changes and revoke access instantly once our work is complete.

  1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. In the left-hand menu, go to Users > Add New.
  3. Enter the username “Laura_UXC” and specifically my web administrator’s email address, provided during our first meeting.
  4. Under Role, select Administrator (this allows me to manage plugins and themes).
  5. Ensure “Send User Notification” is checked so I receive the login link.
  6. Click Add New User.
  7. Email me to state you have completed these steps and this should be complete.

Once I receive your email and the WordPress generated email, I will login and change the password. You will still be able to easily revoke my access merely by removing me as a user from your website.

2. Use a Free LastPass Account

If you prefer not to create a new user, you can use a password manager like LastPass. It’s free and allows you to share credentials securely without the password ever appearing in plain text.

  1. Set up a free account at LastPass.com and login.
  2. Add your website login to your “Vault.”
  3. Select the Share icon next to the entry.
  4. Enter my email address and click Share.

Important Security Notice:

While I highly recommend the secure methods listed above, you may choose to send login information via email or other messaging platforms. We do not recommend these less secure methods.

Please be advised that by sharing your login information via email or other messaging platforms, Laura Pinell-Carlson and any of her associates are released of any and all liabilities regarding the security, interception, or unauthorized use of that data resulting from those delivery methods.

If you still choose to email the login information this way, please email it to my web administrator’s email. You can request this email at any time.

If you have further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

And as always, thank you for choosing to work with me!

Warmly,

Laura Pinell-Carlson
